Most people in Pensacola already have November 6 through 8 circled for one thing. Maybe it's the Blue Angels roaring back over the bay for the first Homecoming Air Show since 2024. Maybe it's a booth at the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival you've bought from every year in Seville Square. Maybe it's just Foo Foo Fest, the twelve-day arts binge that's been running since late October.
Here's what a lot of longtime residents haven't fully clocked yet: all three are happening at the same time, in different parts of the city, with different entry rules, and none of them were scheduled with the other two in mind for your convenience. They were scheduled around each other on purpose, just not around you.
Three events, one long weekend
The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival runs Friday through Sunday, November 6 to 8, in historic Seville Square. It's a juried show with more than 200 painters, potters, sculptors, and craftspeople, free to attend, running 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with a separate Children's Festival at Bartram Park on Saturday and Sunday. It dates back to 1973, and it's been held on the first full weekend in November at Seville Square for so long that Sunshine Artist magazine ranked it the 18th best art festival in the country in 2024.
The NAS Pensacola Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show lands on Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7, on base. Gates open at 8 a.m. both days, the show starts at 9:30, and the Blue Angels close things out around 2 p.m. Admission is free. This is the first Homecoming show since 2024. The 2025 edition was called off after a federal government shutdown, and the Blue Angels only managed a scaled-back flight for a smaller crowd that November, according to Pensacola News Journal reporting, which means this year's crowd is a homecoming in more than one sense.
And Foo Foo Fest, now in its 13th year, runs the whole stretch from October 29 through November 9, folding in events like Night Moves Music Fest across multiple downtown venues, PenArts' immersive staging of Side Show at The Gordon, and the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra's Mozart & Bizet program at the Saenger Theatre on the evening of November 7, the same Saturday the Blue Angels are flying and the arts festival is in full swing three blocks away.

Why the calendar is built this way
This isn't an accident, and it isn't a scheduling failure either. Art, Culture and Entertainment, the nonprofit behind Foo Foo Fest, has said outright that the festival was built to fill the gap between Pensacola's established anchor events, specifically naming the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival and the Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show as the bookends. Two ends of town, two very different sets of rules
Seville Square and NAS Pensacola aren't close, and they don't run on the same rules. Getting into the base for the air show requires a valid government-issued photo ID for every visitor, gates open specifically at 8 a.m., and backpacks or camera bags aren't allowed through security, only small purses and diaper bags. RV parking exists but it's first come, first served, with no overnight parking permitted at the air show site itself. If you want to camp, that's a separate arrangement at Oak Grove Park or Blue Angel Park for eligible patrons, or off base entirely at Gulf Islands National Seashore, Big Lagoon State Park, or Gulf State Park across the Alabama line.
Downtown works on an entirely different problem. Treat these as two separate outings on two separate mornings, not one flexible Saturday where you pop over from the flight line to the art booths for lunch. The routes, the gate hours, and the parking systems don't overlap, and Saturday, November 7, is the one day both are running full tilt at the same time.

Different weekend, different map, worth keeping straight.
- If you're only doing one base trip, go early. Gates open at 8 a.m. both days and ID checks take time, so build in a buffer before the 9:30 start if you want a spot before the Blue Angels fly around 2.
